Say goodbye to Sam's Club in Syracuse. The store is closing it's doors for good.

The announcement of the closing of 63 Sam's Clubs across the country left employees stunned and customers and wondering what to do about prescriptions and memberships.

Support and resources are being offered to employees affected by the closings. 151 employees are affected in Syracuse. “We need great people to help lead us into the future and we hope that many of them will stay with the company at either a local store or club,” said Sam's Club president and CEO John Furner in a press release.

12 of the stores affected will be turned into eCommerce fulfillment centers to speed up delivery of online orders. The rest of the stores will be closing over the next few weeks.

The Syracuse location will close January 26th. Anyone using the pharmacy can get their prescriptions filled at Walmart.

“Transforming our business means managing our real estate portfolio and Walmart needs a strong fleet of Sam’s Clubs that are fit for the future,” said Furner.
