We’ve all heard about firefighters saving cats from trees. But these New York firefighters are our hometown heroes after they saved a dog from a storm drain.

Volunteers with the Fairmount Fire Department were alerted of a 15-year-old dog trapped in a storm drain Monday night. According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, firefighters worked with the Town of Camillus Highway, Camillus Police and Camillus Dog Control to bring the dog to safety in less than 40 minutes.

Thankfully, the dog was “alive and conscious” when firefighters brought it up from the storm drain and will be just fine. A GIANT thank you to everyone involved for saving man’s best friend!
