Whether your just beginning a farm or own an established operation, Cornell's Small Farms Program has tools to help you succeed.  They offer great online resources as well as face-to-face learning opportunities.

At the small farms website you'll find free downloadable resources like the “Guide to Farming in New York State” and the “Resource Guide to Direct Marketing Livestock and Poultry.”
Even you've been farming for years, you'll find tips on niche crops, like cultivating mushrooms, and online courses that will tech your about soil health and financial record keeping.  The events calendar will give the "when and where" on many events throughout the state.

The Cornell Small Farms Program has recently received a three-year grant from the USDA Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Program that will allow them to offer support for military veterans looking to get into agriculture.  These programs will include annual 5-day intensive entrepreneurial “boot camps” as well as regional farmer veteran networking groups.  If you are interested in more information about these programs, call the Cornell Small Farms Program office at (607) 255-9227
