The undeniable ultimate master of the Dobro is celebrating a birthday today. Jerry Douglas was born on this day in 1956. According to Wikipedia, "In addition to his thirteen solo recordings, Douglas has played on more than 1600 albums." He is also a featured member of Alison Krauss and Union Station and is currently on tour with them. Douglas has also walked away with some pretty impressive awards in his career. "Douglas has received thirteen Grammy Awards and has won the Country Music Association's 'Musician of the Year' award three times, in 2002, 2005 and 2007," according to Wikipedia.

I have had the great opportunity of seeing him live in concert with Alison Krauss and Union Station a few times, and he is just an amazing musician. He plays the Dobro with so much ease. So, in honor of his birthday today, here is one of my favorite Jerry Douglas songs, "A Tribute to Peadeo O'Donnell".

Also, if you need tips playing the Dobro, here is a clip from Jerry's instructional video.
