Rocky, the Saw-whet owl that caught national attention after hitching a ride in the Christmas tree bound for Rockefeller Center, keeps on giving. Her image is being used for fundraisers, including one for the Stevens-Swan Humane Society.

A very limited number of Rocky mugs are available, with proceeds going to the Humane Society. You can pick yours up at Utica Coffee Roasters in Utica and Clinton, Max's Print Shop in Marcy, Piggy Pats in Washington Mills and online at RockyMug.com.

Stevens-Swan Humane Society is a private organization and receives no state of county funding. They have to rely on community contributions and fundraisers to take care of animals that are surrendered, lost or unwanted. "Since the turn of the century it has always been a tradition to turn to the community for assistance to reach our mission goals. We rely on the generosity of people to help us to meet these demands."

As for the real Rocky. After weeks of recuperating at Ravensbeard Wildlife Center in Saugerties, New York, she was released back into the wild where she came from.
