Humble CNY Lieutenant Never Fails To Inspire Those Around Him
First responders like Jim deserve a shout out for the lasting impact they have on the people they work and serve with.
Meet James Cervino
Jim currently serves as Lieutenant on Ladder 4 of the Syracuse Fire Department. He has years of experience with the Rescue Company, but his story of serving his community started long before he joined the team.
After graduating from Bishop Ludden, Cervino immediately enlisted in the Marine Corps. When he was finished serving his country, he developed a strong passion for public service. This inspired him to enroll as a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Clay.
In 2006, James received a call he was long hoping for. He was officially hired as a career fireman for the City of Syracuse. After being there for nearly two decades, Jim continues to be a humble leader at the station
According to Jim's fellow fire fighters, they see him as a role model for their station and company.
James comes to work each day with a smile on his face and treats everyone with respect and compassion. Many young firefighters look at Lt. Cervino as an idol.
Thank you James for all that you do. Serving your community is one thing, but your dedication is inspiring to everyone else around you.
Do you know a first responder that deserves to be recognized? Tell us about someone who should be honored in Central New York - a firefighter, police officer, EMT, forest ranger, paramedic, DEC officers, military, rescuers, front line workers, or any other person first on the scene.
Include their name, a picture, and why they should be recognized during 'First Responder Friday." We'll honor one first responder every Friday and as a way to say thank you, we'll give them an oil change from Jiffy Lube on Commercial Drive in New Hartford and a Bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
