Each week we salute Central New York's First Responders, the people willing to put their own well being on the line to help others. This week we salute, Enrique Carrasco with the Barneveld Fire Department.

Wherever life has led Enrique he has served his community.  He began volunteering as a firefighter when he was just 18-years-old. Enrique got his start with the East Syracuse Fire Department, and over time served with Dewitt and Hinsdale Fire Departments.

About two years ago Enrique and his family relocated to the Barneveld area, and as he always does he became part of the local community helping and serving with the local fire department. The person nominating him for our First Responder of the Week, says he has always served wherever he lives.

Enrique loves to serve the community that he lives in and has a passion for helping people and is very compassionate also looking for ways he can help.

Enrique has also served with The Burn Foundation even becoming a member of their board. Thanks Enrique, for not only helping people in their time of need, but in assisting with the education and prevention of fire for all ages.

Do you know a first responder that deserves to be recognized? Tell us about someone who should be honored in Central New York - a firefighter, police officer, EMT, forest ranger, paramedic, DEC officers, military, rescuers, front line workers, or any other person first on the scene.

Include their name, a picture and why they should be recognized during 'First Responder Friday." We'll honor one first responder every Friday and as a way to say thank you, we'll give them a Bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
