FDA Issues Warning to Dollar Tree for Selling ‘Potentially Unsafe Drugs’
The FDA wrote a letter warning the parent company of Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores about selling 'potentially unsafe drugs'.
The FDA issued the warning to Greenbrier International, Inc - the parent company of Dollar Tree and Family Dollar - about selling products including acne pads, and Assured brand drugs that were manufactured in factories that were in violation of FDA standards.
The letter says Greenbrier has continued to import items from factories that were issued separate warnings from the FDA, in spite of being instructed not to.
The letter outlines several violations at factories, including Shanghai Weierya Daily Chemicals Factory and Hangzhou Zhongbo Industrial Company Ltd., which the letter says have shown a pattern of serious violations of the law, such as not testing raw materials or drugs for pathogens and quality.
In a statement, a representative from Greenbrier says "each of the items referenced in the report are topical, and not ingestible, products. As always, we are cooperating with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We plan to meet with the FDA in the near future and expect that our plans will satisfy their requirements in all regards."
The FDA encourages the public to report any adverse events they may have experienced as the result of using any of these products.
