Fawn goes swimming in Central New York family's pool. What could have been a tragic story instead turned into something an off-duty Chenango Police Officer will never forget. And I image the fawn will remember it for a while too.

Fortunately, the fawn happened to jump into an above-ground pool that belonged to a Broome County Sheriff's Investigator. While the young deer struggled to stay afloat on the pool cover, the fast-acting officer contacted the NY Department of Conservation.

Conservation Officer Andy McCormick used a catch pole and some old-fashioned ingenuity to get the fawn out of the pool. Once released, the young one ran into a nearby wooded area.
