Family and Friends Help Cover Funeral Expenses For Madison Teen Killed in ATV Accident

A tragedy in Madison has friends and family coming together to help cover funeral costs for a teen who died in an ATV accident.

14 year-old William Bassett Jr was killed Thursday, May 5th after being pinned under the ATV in the town of Sherburne. Chenango Police say "the ATV struck a piece of farm equipment causing it to go over an embankment. The operator was then thrown from the ATV and pinned under it. Bassett was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead."

Bassett's Godmother Tisha Ann Hafelin created a Go Fund Me campaign to raise funds for his funeral.

"If you could find it in your heart to help a mother and father arrange what no parent should ever have to do, and lay their son to rest, it would be greatly appreciated. This is not an easy situation for any parent to have to go through. On top of that, stressing about having enough money to have a nice funeral service for this bright young man should be the least of their worries right now."

A memorial has been set up on Facebook with pictures and video of Bassett Jr including notes kids left on his locker at school.
