If sleep comes sparingly and assuming you don't have kids or an overactive mind as the culprit, the blame may lay with your current non-canine sleeping partner.

A new study by Canisius College in Buffalo suggests kicking everyone and everything out of your bed except for the dog may help.

Survey data found cats and humans were equally disruptive to women's sleep; dogs are least likely to wake them in the middle of the night. Cats also provided less feelings of comfort and security than both humans and dogs in bed.

But what of the sleeping partners of men? The study says the results were similar for both sexes, so dogs still reign king above all else for helping secure a good night's sleep. They aren't just man's best friend.
