Seriously. What's wrong with people?

Just 24 hours after Crystal Springs Golf Course in Vernon, New York, announced it would no longer allow play after 5:30 PM for the rest of the season because of safety concerns, a video shows exactly why they may have made that decision.

The carts are back at the clubhouse, and they are absolutely covered in mud and water. I'm not talking about a couple of little splashes from hitting a wet spot. One of the carts actually had what appears to be water submerged underneath the seat.

And here's the kicker... the golf course is completely dry.

So how did this happen?

Take a look at the back basket of one of the carts. It's filled with empty beer cans.

And this is why people wonder why golf courses are shutting down at a certain time on weekends.

Show a little respect

Golf courses aren't cheap to maintain. And here in Central New York, where the golf season is already short, keeping a course in good shape takes a LOT of work and money.

So if you're lucky enough to spend a few hours on the course, have fun. Enjoy yourself. Have a drink if that's your thing. But show a little respect.

Don't tear up the course. Don't drive carts through areas you're not supposed to. Don't trash the equipment. And for crying out loud, take care of the place you're paying to enjoy.

Because when people don't, eventually the rules get tighter, the hours get shorter, and everyone else pays the price.
