Who says you need to be on your feet to break a world record?

Residents, staff, and community members at Cooperstown Center in Cooperstown, New York, were among hundreds of people across multiple Centers Health Care locations who came together for one seriously fun dance party — all while staying seated.

And it turns out, they danced their way right into the Guinness World Records book.

Centers Health Care officially set a new Guinness World Records title for the Largest Seated Dance Lesson in Multiple Venues on August 19, with 696 participants taking part in the synchronized dance lesson across multiple locations.

Cooperstown Was Part of the Big Moment

Cooperstown Center joined in on the fun, with residents showing off their dance moves right alongside staff and community members.

The event was part of Centers Health Care's annual Care That Moves You initiative, which is all about encouraging movement and connection — and proving that you don't have to be young, super athletic, or even able to stand up to enjoy dancing.

And judging by the smiles and energy coming out of Cooperstown Center, it looks like everyone got the memo.

More Than a Record

Having a Guinness World Record is pretty darn cool. But the whole idea was bigger than simply trying to get into the record book.
