The trend in recent years has been for stores to open earlier on Thanksgiving in order to get a head start on the madness of Black Friday shopping.  However, this year, the trend seems to be reversing.  Many stores are staying closed to allow employees and customers to enjoy the holiday with family and friends.

According to BestBlackFriday.com, these are the stores that will not open on Thanksgiving in 2016.

-Marshalls
-Nordstrom
-Office Depot and OfficeMax
-PetSmart
-Peir 1 imports
-Raymour and Flannigan
-Sam's Club
-Staples
-T.J. Maxx

The list may grow between now and Thanksgiving, although many other retailers have already announced their full holiday season schedule.
