This Christmas, White’s Farm Supply Celebrates the Family Values Behind the Company

The holiday season tends to be a time when families gather and reminisce — and the White family is no different.

Willard and Nettie White, both from farming families, returned to Central New York after World War II and opened Oneida Valley Garage, where they pumped gas and repaired automobiles and farm equipment, according to White's Farm Supply's website. Just a few years later, in 1949, they became a dealer for International Harvester Company, which at that time also made refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners.

The growth continued: They started distributing Nicholson Hay tedders in 1953, and in the 60s, Gehl contracted with them to warehouse their parts for use throughout the Northeast and White's started selling Cub Cadets. According to the company website:

White’s was the first dealer in New York for Martin Manufacturing (a company that was later purchased by Gehl) that pioneered a V-style spreader. Our product line offering branched into a new area with cow stalls and gates. We carry an extensive inventory of barn and farm lot needs with strong relationships with Manufacturer’s, Paul B. Zimmerman, Inc. and J. Houle & Fils, Inc.

In the early 90s, Willard and Nettie White retired and a new generation took the helm. Now, White's Farm Supply has five locations and employs more than 90 New Yorkers, but at its heart, it's still a family-run business.
