Pretty sure no one has walked to school, uphill both ways, in this kind of weather. Single digit highs, below zero lows and gusty winds have a Wind Chill Watch Thursday night through Saturday for Central New York.

The National Weather Service says dangerously cold wind chills start Thursday night and will only worsen as we get to Friday and Saturday.

WHAT

Dangerously cold wind chills possible. Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero will cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes to exposed skin, especially Friday night into Saturday. Wind chills could range from 20 to 30 below zero Thursday night into Friday, and from 25 to 40 below zero Friday night into Saturday.

WHERE

Oneida, Otsego and Delaware Counties.

WHEN

From Thursday evening through Saturday afternoon.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

A blast of Arctic air will arrive Thursday night with northwest winds gusting as high as 25 to 35 mph as temperatures plummet. Winds will continue Friday into Saturday, only slowly diminishing with time. Also, the very cold air could cause freezing of vulnerable exposed plumbing, if preventive measures are not taken.

Just to add a little more misery, there may be snow Thursday night. It will be a small amount, but with strong winds blowing snow will be the problem.
