Hopefully, you have the Labor Day holiday off, it's going to be a hot and steamy day. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from noon until 8 tonight.

LOCATIONS... Northern and Southern Oneida, Onondaga, Madison, Yates, Seneca and Southern Cayuga.

HEAT INDEX VALUES... 95 to 100 due to temperatures in the upper 80's to lower 90's, and dewpoints in the lower 70's. The highest
values will be in the urban areas such as Utica, Rome, and, Syracuse.

TIMING... Monday afternoon into early evening.

WHAT TO DO...As always drinking plenty of fluids and stay indoors as much as possible. And check on older relatives and neighbors. Reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening and wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing.

Another round of thunderstorms will also be possible this afternoon and tonight. Tuesday's forecast calls for more heat, temps in the upper 80's to near 90. At this time a heat advisory has not been issued.

While New York has established cooling centers around the state, with the Labor Day holiday many may not be open, always call first. There's an interactive map to search for cooling centers.
