CBS Evening News To Feature Oneonta Students

A group of third graders in New York will be featured on CBS Evening News.

Dr. Ken Sider's class at Valleyview Elementary School in Oneonta makes tonight's news for their push to get a publishing company to correct misinformation found in the students' Math in Focus workbook, a mission that began in the fall of 2018.

A math problem in the workbook says Columbus was in America in 1492. But Columbus was never in America. He left Spain in August 1492 with three ships, and after a stop in the Canary Islands, he made landfall at an island in the Bahamas.

According to CBS News producer, the story will air tonight (6/13) in a 2-minute segment with national correspondent Chip Reid. The interview will  air as the closing story and will be available on the CBS website after it airs.
