A new tradition begins as an apple orchard turns into a Winter Wonderland in Central New York.

For the first time since it opened in 1911, Beak & Skiff Apple Orchard in Layfayette is staying open for the holidays. "We wanted to create a new tradition and experience for the holidays," says Jeanne St. Claire of Marketing and Brand Development.

The orchard, that closes for the season in early November, will be open until December 21st this year. "The apple barn has been transformed into a tree barn where people can pick out their Christmas trees," says Claire. "There's a Winter Wonderland for kids with a Candyland theme. Santa will be there with his sleigh for photos."

While the kids are enjoying the Winter Wonderland, the big kids can enjoy the Naughty Elf in the Tasting Room - a delicious holiday drink with hot cocoa, cold brew coffee vodka, whipped cream, crushed peppermint and topped with a candy cane. There's a Nice Elf version too, without the alcohol.

Claire can't take credit for the idea. "An employee actually thought of it when we were brain storming ways to offer more for the community and keep our staff during the holidays."

Beak & Skiff on Route 80 in Layfayette will be open 11-6 every day through December 21st. "Whatever you celebrate, come. We're a one stop shop for memories and holiday fun for years to come."
