Whether your a teen looking for work on a farm or a farmer looking for some teens to help with the growing workload, state laws have some safety and age requirements.  Cornell Cooperative Extensions' 4-H Youth Development will host a program to keep everyone safe and legal.

NY law requires teens be at least 16 to operate farm equipment or machinery.  And once they complete an Agriculture & Tractor Safety Certification Program, 14 and 15 year olds can be gainfully employed in the farm industry.

Madison County Cornell Cooperative Extension will host the 1st of 7 sessions at Morrisville State College February 23 at 6:00pm.

The class fee is $20.00.  You can get more details and register online or contact Kim at Cornell Cooperative Extension at (315) 684-3001 ext 109, email kan58@cornell.edu.
