According to John Denver "life on the farm is kinda laid back." But as it nears planting season it's not so true. Even finding time to get everyone the COVID-19 vaccination adds to the time crunch. One farm agency serving the Utica Rome area is easing the pain and bringing the shot to the farm. And it's all free.

The New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health in Fly Creek, NY is part of the Bassett Health Care Network specializing in agricultural and rural health and medical needs. Aware of how time crunched the farming community can be and the importance of getting all full-time, part-time, and seasonal workers vaccinated, the group is offering to bring a clinic to the farm.

Staff will come to your location to administer the shot, help with completing paperwork, and even have a bilingual specialist on hand to assist if needed. It's all done with no cost to the farm or the workers. Here are some things to know:

  • Vaccinations will be available for any over age 16.
  • Full time, part time, and seasonal workers are eligible to receive vaccine
  • NO cost to the farm or workers
  • Dates and times will be assigned and coordinated with neighboring farms
  • Staff will assist with completing all necessary paperwork.
  • Time away from work will be approximately 30 minutes
  • Johnson and Johnson vaccines (one shot) will be utilized when available
