We kicked off our annual Farm Hands at the Barnes Family Farm in Madison, where the family welcomed us with open arms and the cows greeted us with lots of kisses.

Bruce and Sally Barnes celebrate the 57th anniversary of their endeavor into the dairy business, having purchased the farm in May of 1962. Bruce still runs the farm at age 80, with the help of daughter Christine, head-man Gene and "strong as an ox" 14-year old Alex, milking about 70 cows on a steady basis.

Thank you to the Barnes family for letting us spend a day on the farm, shoveling cow poop, feeding calves and milking cows. It's a good reminder how hard farmers work everyday, although Bruce would beg to differ. "This isn't work. This is fun."

And a BIG thank you to Mama Barnes for the DELICIOUS birthday cake!  Who makes a cake for a stranger? What a family!!
