A Love of hunting and fishing gets you free admission to New York State Fair. The Department of Conservation will host two days this year and anyone with a valid Sporting License gets free admission. And there's plenty to do involving hunting and fishing once you're in the gate.

Thursday, August 23 and Sunday, August 26 comes with free admission and family fishing clinics at the pond in the New York Experience festival grounds. Plus there are activities at the new Expo Center and Aquarium Building.

The Saratoga Tree Nursery is giving away tree seedlings each day at the new Expo Center. DEC's Conservation Officers and Forest Rangers will be on hand with a live owl for the first three days, plus they'll be answering questions about how to become a Forest Ranger or Conservation Officer.  Sporting licenses and habitat access stamps will be sold too.

The popular aquarium tanks will feature freshwater fish and turtles that represent the species you can find in streams, lakes, and ponds throughout the state. Get more information on all the special days at the year's New York State Fair.
