It's become as competitive as the 4-H judging at the New York State Fair, but instead of an expert determining the winner, all fairgoers can pick the winner. The annual Taste NY Food Truck Competition returns this year with 39 trucks offering samples of their signature dishes.

Each truck creates sample sizes of their entrees, fairgoers purchase the samples for $3 and then vote for their favorites via text.  The two-day competition will feature 20 trucks each day, Sunday and Monday, September 1 and 2 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The top 3 each day wins Aldi Gift Certificates.

Three returning champions are in this year's field; The Meatball Truck from Rochester, Smokin Pete’s BBQ from Dresden, and Silo Food Truck from Ithaca.  2 trucks from Rome will also take part in the event; Come Fry With Me and Saritas. Here's a list of the trucks, their signature offering, and the day they will compete
