Fair season roles into the Herkimer County Fairgrounds August 18.  And as any good fair, the Herkimer County Fair is complete with 4-H competitions, tractor pulls, demo derbys and carnival rides and games.  Read more for the complete lineup. 

Children's Day will provide three opportunities for "ride all the rides" at one price times; 2 of them on Wednesday, noon to 4pm and 6pm to 10pm and again on Thursday noon to 4pm.

Jennifer Collins from Herkimer County's Cornell Cooperative Extension has the 4-H competition schedule.

The Herkimer County 4-H Office will be holding its judging of non-animal exhibits on Sunday, August 16 from 11:00AM-3:00PM in the youth building at the fairgrounds. 4-H youth will have an opportunity to interact with evaluators and explain how/why they completed their project(s). Non 4-H youth can drop their entries off at the youth building anytime between 10:00AM and 5:00. Opening day festivities will include a smoothie challenge spotlighting healthy eating. Contestants will include local & state dignitaries. Smoothie challenges will also be taking part at various times throughout the fair. If you are interested in participating, call the Herkimer County 4-H Office. Other activities taking place at the fair are a rabbit show on Tuesday, dairy cattle shows on Wednesday and Friday, livestock shows on Thursday and a horse show on Saturday.
