Two construction workers, one trapped under equipment, are recovering after being insured on a construction site in Herkimer County.

New York State Police in Herkimer is investigating the industrial accident that occurred just before noon on Friday, November 27th. It happened at 2788 Newport Road in the town of Newport.

State Police says the accident occurred after four construction workers at the site attempted to adjust the trusses. A loose tress fell and knocked into the lift, causing it to tip over the other trusses to collapse.

A 41-year-old construction worker had to be rescued from under a man lift and several trusses. He was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Upstate University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

A 25-year-old worker, who was also injured, was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, where he was treated and released.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Newport Fire Department.
