One of Santa's elves may just live in Durhamville, New York. Russell Eastman has been giving back for more than 30 years and this year his handmade toys will be enjoyed by kids in Oneida County.

Eastman has taken part in the annual Care a Sharing Christmas with NYE Auto since it began in 1983. "I think the first time I brought a toy in was when they had a dealership on Lennox Avenue in Oneida."

For the first time, Eastman made the donated toys himself. "I just started making toys a week and a half ago," he says. "My neighbor had a house destroyed in a September storm and he had to completely rebuild his house and was going to throw out the old wood."

The wood was used to build little toy trucks and cars. "The bodies of the trucks are made out of two by fours," explains Eastman who is thankful for the life he's had. "I had a lifetime of blessings."

The kids aren't the only ones benefiting from Eastman's generosity this year. In addition to the wooden toys, he spent the day handing out homemade kaleidoscopes and toaster tongs. "I want to give back and I do it because I enjoy it and it's fun."

Donations to the Care a Sharing Christmas are accepted at NYE Auto in Oneida until December 17th.
