An old black-and-white video of Helen Keller has surfaced with her speaking.  Keller lived from 1880 to 1968 and was left blind and deaf following a serious illness when she was 19 months old. But the video shows her speaking, explaining her biggest regret: not being able to speak normally.

She says, 'Longingly, I feel how much more good I might have done if I had only acquired natural speech.'

The video shows how hard Keller pushed herself, because it was a miracle she ever learned to talk at all. She got sick when she was a year and a half old, and she was blind and deaf for the rest of her life.

Anne Sullivan taught her to talk by speaking with Helen's hand pressed to her face and throat, so Helen could feel the vibrations. Then Helen learned to create those same vibrations in her own throat, and eventually went on to write books and become a public speaker.
