The museum and store are no more at Herkimer Diamond Mines after a massive fire. Luckily no one was injured in the blaze that 9 different fire departments responded to Saturday, October 14th.

"The diamonds are a half a billion years old and in one of the most sustainable environments in the area," Owner Renee Scialdo Shevat wrote in a social media post.

You can still mine diamonds, eat at the restaurant and reserve a campsite at the KAO campground. "Our staff is one of the most resilient staff I have ever had the pleasure to work with. We are in business and we will continue to move forward," says Shevat.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
