Indiana State Fair Re-Opened With Memorial For Those Killed in Sugarland Stage Collapse
The Indiana State Fair re-opened this morning with a memorial service for the 5 people killed in Saturday's stage collapse during the Sugarland show. A website has been set up for anyone with questions about the service or the fair.
Sugarland cancelled Sunday night's show at the Iowa State Fair. Jennifer Nettles posted a message on Sugarland's website about the tragedy
"I am so moved. Moved by the grief of those families who lost loved ones. Moved by the pain of those who were injured and the fear of their families. Moved by the great heroism as I watched so many brave Indianapolis fans actually run toward the stage to try and help lift and rescue those injured. Moved by the quickness and organization of the emergency workers who set up the triage and tended to the injured. There are no words to process a moment of this magnitude and gravity. There are only prayers for peace in the hearts of the bereft, and prayers of thanksgiving for those who were spared or safe. A piece of our heart is left in that grandstand. May God provide peace and healing to the people of Indianapolis." - Jennifer Nettles
It's unfortunate it takes a tragedy to bring out the best in people. Moments after the stage collapsed, instead of running from the mess, people ran towards the stage to do what they could for those trapped underneath. Check out video of the moments after the collapse and the heroism shown by many.
