Takata, the Japanese auto parts maker behind the largest automobile recall in history admitted its airbags are defective. 34 million cars are affected, or one in seven cars on the road today. Is your car one of them?

The problem is airbags could explode sending shrapnel flying and several companies are impacted including, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, General Motors, BMW, and Chrysler.

You can find out if your car is involved in the recall at SaferCar.gov, but there's a catch. It could take weeks for automakers to gather all the VIN numbers associated with a recall. Check back periodically as a recall on your vehicle may not show up immediately.

To determine if you're call is recalled, type in your VIN number, found on the front dash of your car.

You may even be able to get a rental car replacement while your car is being fixed.
