It's no secret that the newspaper industry is struggling to stay afloat in an increasingly digital marketplace. One legendary paper made an announcement this week that has traditional subscribers threatening to cancel.

The Observer Dispatch and several other Northeast Gannett newspapers went on a 24-hour strike on Friday morning, according to employees at the historic Utica newspaper. About a half dozen employees, the majority of the Utica and Mohawk Valley workforce, walked off the job at 5 AM on Friday for a 24-hour period, in order to send a message to their parent company about unfair working conditions.

It's official. The Observer-Dispatch building on Oriskany Street in Utica has sold.

The historic and enormous 58,160 square foot Utica Observer Dispatch building will be auctioned off starting on November 29th, according to an online real estate notice.
