Even though there is no greater sports rivalry, last night the Boston Red Sox paid tribute to New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera, in his last regular season appearance at Fenway Park.

The Major League Baseball 2012 regular season gets underway tonight, when the Miami Marlins host the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:05 p.m. on ESPN. Of course, this year's regular season opened last week in Japan, with the  Seattle Mariners and Oakland A's splitting a two-game series.

Baseballs fans  say thanks Jorge for 17 years of outstanding play as New York Yankee catcher, and then designated hitter. Jorge Posada announced that he is retiring from baseball after being a franchise Yankee from 1995 through 2011, and a favorite in the Greg "Splashin'" McShea household.
