Former Utica City School Superintendent Bruce Karam has been sentenced on felony corruption charges as part of a plea bargain deal he agreed to in Oneida County Court. Karam was charged in regards to the misuse of taxpayer funds to support a political campaign related to the 2021 Utica School Board election, as well as a fundraiser for then board President Lou LaPolla.

The fact that two Utica City School District officials have now been arrested and charged with stealing taxpayer dollars for their own benefit is despicable and it should prompt all of us to ask some serious questions.

A former Mayor of Utica and the former President of the Utica City School Board has been arrested on federal charges. Oneida County Sheriff Rob Macio has confirmed, Louis LaPolla is currently being held in the Oneida County Jail awaiting arraignment this afternoon on a federal charge.

Another candidate has thrown their hat into the ring for a seat on the Utica School Board.
