We all have childhood memories of holidays, and I have vivid recollections about Thanksgiving Day. The "Frog Days of Fall" are gradually blending into the Christmas season, once Thanksgiving has passed. So, while we are still in the Thanksgiving mode, here are some of my childhood Thanksgiving memories.

The "Frog Days of Fall" are filled with "The Boys of Fall", and so is Thanksgiving Day. Years ago, the Detroit Lions were the first (and only) team in the NFL to play their regular weekly game on a day other than Sunday - Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. Well football fans, another celebrity birthday during the "Frog Days of Fall". Today football player-turned-TV sportscaster Troy Aikman is 45 years old (I still remember him in those back-to-back Super Bowl wins over my Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVII and XXVIII).

During the "Frog Days of Fall", we start seeing, hearing and feeling more holiday sentiments. Maybe you'll go to the "Nutcracker" performance this year in Utica. If not, we have some funny penguins performing to one of the songs in that ballet: "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies".

If you decide to visit New York City during the "Frog Days of Fall", one must-see stop is the huge Christmas Tree that they put up in Rockefeller Center every year. This year's tree is a Norway Spruce that came from Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, and is 75 feet tall (I doubt that we have ceilings high enough for that one in the McShea household).

Another anniversary during the "Frog Days of Fall". Harry Potter is quite the hero in the McShea household. We've seen all the movies, have most of them on DVD, and some of us have read all the books (don't look at me). Maybe you're into Harry Potter as well, and ten years ago today, Harry made his leap from the book to the big screen with his first film of the series.

The "Frog Days of Fall" once again reveal another country celebrity birthday. Today, C.W. McCall, the artist who gave us that memorable CB radio song, "Convoy" is 83 years old. Today, we'll feature his number one song from 1975 on our "Country Classic Double".

Many of you pass the time during the "Frog Days of Fall" by participating in a weekly bowling league. I'm a lefthander, and no matter how many times I've bowled (or golfed for that matter), I can't get rid of a hook.

The "Frog Days of Fall" are filled with eventful dates, and today is one of the most important. Today we observe Veterans Day, and we at Big Frog salute veterans who have served and continue to serve our country, many who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

I was thinking the other day about words. We certainly say a lot of words on Big Frog 104, and our personal choice of words may indicate our age. So, during these "Frog Days of Fall", when the sun sets a little earlier every night, I had some time to think about words.

It happens once a year, and it's here - Election Day. The "Frog Days of Fall" are rapidly moving along, and Election Day is a sure sign that we're on our way to Thanksgiving and all the rest.
