While the nation and the world are mourning the deaths of the victims of Friday's horrific Connecticut school shootings a local couple are grieving a much more personal loss.

Authorities have released the names of the victims of Friday's mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, in which Adam Lanza, 20, reportedly killed 27 people, as well as himself. Lanza's rampage began when he shot and killed his mother, Nancy, at her home before he drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School and killed six adults and 20 children before taking his own life.

President Obama addressed the nation yesterday on the tragic shooting incident in Connecticut. The President ordered all government flags at half-staff through next Tuesday.

UPDATE: The gunman's mother, Nancy Lanza, was found dead in her home, not in the school as first reported.  Adam Lanza was found dead inside the school. VICTIM IDENTIFIED: One of the victims has been identified as Dawn Hochsprung, the principal of Sandy Hook Elementary. Below is a photo from CBS:

While details about Friday morning's school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut are still trickling in, it's clear that innocent lives were taken when a gunman stormed Sandy Hook Elementary School and began firing. The small town in the state's southwest corner will be in the hearts of every American this weekend, including country music's biggest stars.
