New York City during the Christmas season has quite a feel of holiday excitement. From the huge Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center and skaters to the incredible storefront decorations, it's truly unique. And, of course it's even more dramatic at night.
One sure sign of the holidays is the Christmas tree lighting at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City. This year's tree has a special meaning, as it survived the torrential winds and floods of Hurricane Sandy. My daughter was in New York City yesterday when the tree arrived and sent me this photo.
We all have our favorite Christmas tree ornaments, unless you let the family decorate the tree and just sit back and say, "Looks nice" when it's done. I always help decorate the tree with the family, and like doing it (except when the lights won't work and you can't find out why).
If you decide to visit New York City during the "Frog Days of Fall", one must-see stop is the huge Christmas Tree that they put up in Rockefeller Center every year. This year's tree is a Norway Spruce that came from Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, and is 75 feet tall (I doubt that we have ceilings high enough for that one in the McShea household).
We prefer a real Christmas tree at home, and in fact, we never had an artificial one! Now, there are some common sense advantages to having the real deal...a fresh Christmas tree.
