The holiday decorations used in the Wonderland of Lights Christmas display, which was discontinued by the Resource Center for Independent Living last March, will have a new life.
One of the bravest group of soldiers to ever defend our nation are the Tuskegee Airmen. They flew and fought in many dangerous battles, all with the thought of friends, family, and fellow Americans in their hearts. Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi and his colleagues honored a few of the surviving members of the honorable group. One of those men is Rome native Herbert Thorpe.
The legendary mental hospital in Utica known as "Old Main" will once again open it's doors for the public to view. This historic building was built in 1843 and operated as a mental facility for many years and is as eerie as it is interesting.
It's been a long time coming; but, mixed martial arts is now one signature away from being legal in New York State. New York's Assembly put the bill to the floor for a vote on Tuesday evening and it passed by a margin of 113 to 25. The bill will now be sent on to Governor Andrew Cuomo, where he is expected to sign it into law.
The Utica City School District is scheduled to receive a $4,104,000 Extended Learning Time grant, along with a $10,000 planning grant, that will greatly extend the school day for five area schools.
