Time for spring cleaning in the horse barn?  Or maybe you need to add some equipment. You can accomplish both and help the Oneida County 4-H Horse program at the annual Tack Sale.

If there is a future veterinarian in your home?  Then don't miss Cornell Cooperative Extension's Winter Vet Series.  The program, for 6th through 8th graders, coincides with the Winter School Break and will feature tours at a clinic and farm.

We've probably said it before, but it's worth repeating, 4-H provides many one-of-a-kind opportunities for students. Here's the perfect example, Cornell Cooperative Extension in Herkimer County's 2017 Spring 4-H Government Intern Program.

Spring and summer weather in 2016 was unusual even for Central New York standards. Many parts of the region went without rain, but apparently that wasn't true for Oneida and Herkimer counties when it came time for disaster area loans.

Today's kids, WOW.  They have been saying that about kids since I was one.  Every generation thinks the next leaves a lot to be desired.  Lynette Kay with with Cornell Cooperative Extensions' 4-H Youth Development says there's lots to celebrate with today's youth and the volunteers that make the program possible.

Hard to believe we've hit the half-way mark for the month of May.  And the weather certainly wouldn't give you a clue either.  If your just coming to terms with show season is upon us.  Madison County's Cornell Cooperative Extension has a warm up for horse shows.

Many moons ago when I first moved to New York, I remember being impressed with the number of large pumpkins grown throughout CNY and Upstate.  In fact, it's not unusual for record breaking pumpkins and sunflowers to come from our area.   Cornell Cooperative Extension and Gardeners of America are holding a contest for both involving youth up to 18 years of age.

The two day-one night camp returns to Morrisville State College June 3 and 4.  Equine & Dairy 101  is a great way for 13-19 year olds to gain camp and college experience. Read more for class details and registration.

The rides, games and concerts are only part of the county and state fair events. Competitions in and around the ag building are also a huge part of the show and people's lives. Registration for 2016 NY State Fair are now open.

Whether you're considering participating in dog shows or just want to improve the behavior of your dog, here's how to get experience.  Cornell Cooperative Extensions' 4-H Youth Development is offering a dog obedience class, April 28th.

Perfectly timed with the next break at CNY schools, Cornell Cooperative Extensions' 4-H Youth Development will host Science Days.  Fun and educational programs that can give the kids something to do other than complain they're bored.  And they don't have to be 4-H members to participate.
