Miranda Lambert paid tribute to the late Merle Haggard by performing her own rendition of his classic "Misery and Gin" during the 2016 ACM Honors event, which was broadcast Friday night (Sept. 9).

Taking centerstage clad in all black, she looked and sounded stunning performing the heartbreak ballad.

"Sittin' with all my friends and talkin' to myself / I look like I'm havin' a good time but any fool can tell / That this honky tonk heaven really makes you feel like hell," the reigning ACM Female Vocalist of the Year sings.

During the evening, Lambert was also presented with the inaugural Merle Haggard Spirit Award. The recognition is given to “uncompromising artists in the spirit of Merle Haggard.”

“Merle was an integral part of the Academy’s history, and it was important to us that we honor his legacy. We couldn’t imagine anyone better suited to receive the first ever ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award than Miranda,” says ACM EVP/Managing Director Tiffany Moon in a press release.

ACM Honors 2016 took place at the mother church of country music, the Ryman, on Aug. 30. The full show will air at 9PM ET Friday night on CBS.

The 10th annual ACM Honors stage was littered with country stars, including Dierks Bentley, Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris. Cam also partnered with Alicia Keys to deliver their own version of the hit Little Big Town track, "Girl Crush."

During the broadcast, there will also be special recognition for Glen Campbell who received the ACM Career Achievement Award. Blake Shelton, Toby Keith, Bentley and Keith Urban  will team up for a tribute the singer.
