As spring turns to summer in Central New York, the Utica Police Department is launching a targeted effort to crack down on illegal street racing, street takeovers, and reckless driving throughout the city. This increased traffic enforcement initiative comes in response to a rise in dangerous driving behaviors commonly seen during the warmer months.

According to the Utica Police Department, these types of illegal vehicle events create significant safety risks not only for the participants but for other motorists, pedestrians, and the general public.
