Additional Information

The Red Knights Motorcycle Club (RKMC) is an international motorcycle organization, founded in Boylston Mass. in 1983, by members of the fire service who also ride. On June 5, 2021, the Red Knights Chapter NY‐19 (Oneida County) will hold its 6th Annual Firefighter’s Brotherhood MC Ride for Awareness of Cancer and other Serious Illness in the Fire Service. Last year’s Ride raised over $1500 for the Believe 271 Foundation. The Believe 271 Foundation was founded in February 2014 to raise funds to support seriously ill firefighters and auxiliary members through a special fund that has been established through the organization. Barneveld Fire Chief Brian Healey and Asst. Chief Brian Palmer are the co‐founders of Believe 271, and the name is based on Oneida County Fire Coordinator “Car 271” Brian McQueen. The original fundraiser began as selling firefighter helmet stickers (pictured above), which was established to help defray McQueen’s travel and treatment costs. He graciously turned down the donation in hopes to start, and grow a foundation, to assist many other firefighters who also have taken ill. In a year, the foundation has already assisted several local Firefighters in their time of need. Since it is a requirement to be an Active or Retired Firefighter for Red Knights membership, it only makes sense to rally our forces and comrades for this worthy, and close to the heart cause for LOCAL firefighter illness awareness. We are planning a scenic motorcycle ride, rain or shine, on Saturday June 5th, 2021. The starting point will be at the Westmoreland Fire Station. Registration will be at 8:30 am, opening speakers at 9am, Bike Blessing at 9:30am, Kick stands up at 10:30 am.
