Baseball fans all across the world woke up to the devastating news that Yankee legend, Yogi Berra, had passed away at the age of 90. Not many people remember that Berra once came to Utica to represent The Mickey Mantle Foundation at Blue Sox game at Murnane Field.

The Mickey Mantle foundation was an organization that was created to promote organ donation awareness. Yogi, being great friends and a teammate of Mantle, made the appearance in Utica in support of that cause. I was lucky enough to be at that game and see him throw that pitch. It's cool to know that baseball greatness once stepped on the small South Utica field.
