The Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium is getting a new upgrade that sounds like heaven for Comets and sports fans in CNY.

The '72 Tavern & Grill' will be a sports bar with a full-service restaurant, and the first bar at the Aud to be open 7 days a week and year-round.

The name '72 Tavern & Grille' is as unique as it is creative. The name comes from the 72 cables that have held up the roof of the Aud for more than 50 years.

The big attraction of the bar is a 160-inch LED HD video wall, and even cooler is the fact that it was designed and built by Mike Evke founder of Eversan right in Whitesboro.

The 72 Tavern & Grill, expected to open later this spring will have it's own dedicated entrance on the west end of the Aud and will be a mecca for sports fans in the Utica/Rome area.

In a press release, President of Mohawk Valley Garden Rob Esche says the '72' will cater to local sports fans by showing all of the Comets games on the 162-inch video wall, along with Sunday football, NHL Playoffs March Madness, fight nights, and other nationally televised sports and entertainment events.

The '72' will be managed by ORB Food & Beverage, who also runs the Aud's concessions.

How To Score A Job AT '72 Tavern & Grill'

The '72' will be hiring at least 50 positions at a job fair at the Aud beginning Monday, March 19 from noon until 3 p.m. where interested applicants can submit a resume and complete a first-round interview.

Positions include everything from cooks to servers and bussers to assistant managers.

The second, third and fourth rounds of interviews are Wednesday and Thurdsay, March 21 & 22 from 4 - 7 p.m.

NOTE: I know that 'The Aud' is now called 'The Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium,' but it is so much easier and familiar to simply type 'The Aud.'
