There are some crazy sports out there that are considered "professional sports," but one of the craziest I have seen is professional cliff jumping! If you've ever been cliff jumping you know it's scary enough just stepping up to the ledge and jumping off. These folks not only have the courage to jump off, they do some crazy flips and twists as they fall eight stories. Olympic High Divers are talented, but they have nothing on these people, well except maybe some sanity.

According to a NY Post article,

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is in its sixth year and is again touring the globe. The seven stop tour is held between May and October and visits death defying drops in the Caribbean, North America, South America, and Europe. Currently half way through the competition, the 14 men and eight women in this year’s tour just completed dives at Kragero in Norway where they plunged 88.5 feet and 65.5 feet respectively.

88.5 or 65.5 feet is a ridiculous height. The highest cliff I have ever jumped off was 40 feet and that took me a little while to muster up the courage to even stand on the edge!

Many of these professional cliff jumpers get their start as divers, be it professional or not. I will say they are definite bad asses. This series of events seems like a party that would be fun to attend.
