World Tennis Association Proposes “Grunting” Ban [VIDEO]

I have to admit I don’t watch very much tennis on TV but when I have tuned in I am sometimes amused, sometimes irritated by the grunting and screeching employed by some of the worlds best women’s tennis players including the most prominent offender Maria Sharapova. Now, according to Reuters, the World Tennis Association has proposed a ban on the most egregious noisemakers. Check out this video of renowned screecher Victoria Azarenka.
Why such concern about the noise?
Maria Sharapova’s screams have been measured at more than 101 decibels – comparable to a chain saw, a pneumatic drill or a speeding train.

The proposed ban would exclude current players such as Sharapova but put limits on new players entering the ranks.
