One of everyone's favorite movies is "The Wizard Of Oz", and on this day in 1939, it made its debut. The film propelled the career of 16 year old Judy Garland and became a classic film in American culture. I can still remember sitting on the gymnasium floor as a kid in second grade at Miller School (now Martin Luther King, Jr. School) in Utica as we watched it for the first time.

My daughter is an expert on all-things "Wizard Of Oz" and Judy Garland, and she even met one of the Munchkins!  As you may know, every year the village of Chittenango celebrates the life of Oz author L. Frank Baum with Oz-stravaganza. To me, Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch of the West and those flying monkeys are still two of the scariest villains ever on film.

Let's take a look at a scene from 1939's "Wizard Of Oz".
