Winter Storm Watch Bringing Lots of Snow (1-01-14)

Looks like we'll ring in the New Year with a significant snow event.  Lake effect snow could bring us up to 15 inches of snow before it ends Friday morning. Click for details on when and where.

The snow begins this morning, takes a break and then returns late this afternoon.  Add some windy conditions and it's a perfect mix for whiteout conditions and hazardous travel.

TOTAL ACCUMULATION OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW THROUGH THIS MORNING WILL RANGE FROM 2 TO 5 INCHES WITH HIGHEST AMOUNTS   ALONG AND NORTH OF THE NEW YORK THRUWAY OVER THE WESTERN PART OF ONEIDA COUNTY. A WIDESPREAD SNOW WILL DEVELOP OVER THE AREA LATER THIS AFTERNOON WITH PERIODS OF SNOW CONTINUING THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT. ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 10 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE FROM LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT.
