Don't be fooled by the warm temperatures in Central New York. A storm is brewing.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Madison, Southern Oneida and Cortland Counties from 6PM Friday through 4PM Saturday.

Plan on difficult travel conditions through the weekend.

Total ice accumulations of one tenth to one quarter of an inch, followed by total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches, with localized amounts up to 9 inches. .Rain changes to freezing rain and sleet this evening, then over to heavy snow between midnight and 4 AM. Snow persists into Saturday morning, then tapers off around midday."

The very rapid fall of temperatures this evening will flash freeze wet roadways and sidewalks. We could see power outages and tree damage here in Central New York.
