Remember that wonderful operating system of Windows XP? I think the last time I saw it used was a few years back. Apparently, the U.S. Navy is running on old Windows technology.

According to Techaeris.com, the U.S. Navy is still using Windows XP on their ships out at sea and in service. In addition, they are paying Microsoft $9 million a year to support and update Windows XP for them. Why are they paying so much? Windows XP lost Microsoft support and updates over a year ago for normal people meaning your system will no longer be protected against the latest virus and malware threats. That's why the Navy is paying top dollar to make sure they get updates.

To be fair the Navy says their ships rely on older computers and software that need Windows XP to run, which makes sense. But what doesn’t make sense is the fact that nothing has been updated for this long. "

I can imagine it must be a nightmare to get anything approved from a budget standpoint. I do find it funny they are still on XP.
